🚲💦 Bike Ride & Bike Wash!
The Blue Room had a great time getting outside for a bike ride at the WES grounds today! 🚴♀️🚴♂️
A few of our OSC children jumped in to help out too, which made it even more fun. After all that riding, the kids finished the afternoon with a good ol’ fashioned bike wash!

For more than 50 years, Wainwright Children’s Centre has been part of our community, supporting local children and families. ❤️
But did you know WCC is a Non-profit childcare centre?
Being non-profit means our focus is on the children, families and community we serve. The money that comes into the centre goes back into the centre, supporting our programs, educators, resources, spaces and the day-to-day care we provide.
We’re proud to be a place that has been part of Wainwright for over 50 years, and we want to continue building a childcare centre that our community can be proud of.
We’re not just a childcare centre. We’re part of the Wainwright community.
If you’re looking for childcare or want to learn more about what WCC has to offer, reach out to us. We’d love to connect with you.

🍳 Another busy couple of weeks in OSC! 🍓
The kids have been keeping busy with lots of fun activities, including Junior Chef Week! They made pancakes, fruit sushi, Ritz fluff sammies, and got to try their hand at making some tasty creations of their own. We also had a special lunch visit from the residents of Battle River Lodge, which was such a great afternoon.
The children made monster cookies for our guests to enjoy with lunch, and we had colouring and other activities set up for everyone to take part in. It was so nice seeing the children and residents visiting, chatting, colouring and enjoying some time together.
Another couple of weeks full of good food, fun activities and great memories in OSC!

WCC Relocation: Q&A and Update
We know the upcoming relocation has brought a lot of questions for families, and we would like to share an update on where things are at and answer some common questions.
Why are we relocating?
The relocation is part of the ongoing construction and development of the new school site. This move will help us create spaces that better support our programs and families moving forward.
Where will programs be located?
The modular/portable will be relocated to the new WES site and will house our OSC, Kindergarten, Pre-K, and Little Leaders programs when those programs are scheduled to operate there. When they are not scheduled in the modular, these programs will operate from the Church of the Nazarene.
What about children who take the bus to BSS or the French school?
We will be working closely with school transportation services to ensure children who rely on bus transportation to BSS or the French school continue to be accommodated. Specific details will be shared with affected families as they are confirmed.
When will the move happen?
Construction is progressing well, and our current target is for work to be completed in early to mid-October. This remains a target date and may change depending on construction timelines and required approvals.
Can children move in as soon as construction is complete?
Not quite. Once construction is finished, Child Care Licensing and AHS will need to inspect the space and provide the required approvals before we can begin operating there. We will keep families updated throughout this process.
Will families need to do anything differently?
Before the move, we will provide clear information about drop-off and pick-up locations, parking, entrances, and any program-specific changes. Our goal is to give families plenty of notice so the transition is as smooth as possible.
Will children and educators stay together during the transition?
Yes. We will do our best to keep routines, educators, and program groups as consistent as possible. We understand that changes in location can be a big adjustment, and maintaining familiar faces and routines will remain a priority.
What happens if construction or approvals take longer than expected?
If timelines change, we will communicate updates with families as soon as possible. Our priority is not moving quickly, it is ensuring the space is safe, licensed, and fully approved before children move in.
When will we know more?
As construction progresses and we receive confirmation from Licensing, AHS, and transportation services, we will continue to provide updates.
We know transitions can create uncertainty, but a great deal of work is happening behind the scenes to make this move as organized and smooth as possible for our children, families, and educators.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Thank you for your patience and support.

Busy week in the Purple Room!
The children have been busy building their fine motor skills through hands-on play and exploring loose parts and recycled materials. From picking up, sorting, stacking, and creating, they’ve been strengthening those little hands while using their imagination and problem-solving skills.

Over the past few weeks, the children have enjoyed lots of fine motor activities, messy play, and spending time outside making the most of the summer weather. It’s been great to see them exploring, creating, and having fun while learning through play.
