Today is a time to pause, listen, reflect, and learn.
As Early Childhood Educators, Truth and Reconciliation invites us to think about how our everyday practice can contribute to belonging, well-being, communication, and diversity and social responsibility.
Through Flight, we are reminded that children are capable, curious, and full of potential—and that relationships, identity, culture, and community are important parts of their learning.
So we can ask ourselves:
1. How are we creating spaces where every child and family feels a sense of belonging and well-being?
2. Whose stories, languages, cultures, and perspectives are reflected in our environments?
3. How are we creating opportunities for children to listen, communicate, wonder, question, and learn?
4. How are we nurturing respect for diversity and our shared responsibility to one another and our communities?
For me, reconciliation is found in these everyday moments. It is in the relationships we build, the stories we share, the voices we listen to, and our willingness to continue learning and growing.
Small steps matter. Our everyday practice matters. And reconciliation is ongoing.
