Love seeing our alumni’s doing great things in their communities!
TEACHER IN TRAINING
As our children and youth return to the classroom, we would like to introduce you to another member of our Nations, who is helping in their academic journeys.
Wyatt Tanner is from the Canupawakpa Dakota Nation and is entering his second year as an educational assistant at the Wambdi Iyotaka School.
This year, Wyatt is assisting the school’s teaching staff with 12 students in nursery and kindergarten.
Wyatt is a recent graduate from Virden Collegiate Institute, but he does not want his academic career to stop there. He wants to become a full-fledged teacher and to attend Brandon University’s Indigenous Teacher Education program soon.
Wyatt says he loves watching children learn, especially when it comes to their Dakota language and culture.
With an attitude like that, we are certain he will make his post-secondary dreams a reality.
The Southern Chiefs’ Organization is always proud to lift the teachers, educational assistants, and all support staff who prioritize the education of our children and youth.
If you know of someone from our Nations we should highlight, do not hesitate to email us at [email protected].
Today, we are delighted to showcase Wyatt Tanner and we wish him the very best in the school year ahead.
