Join us on December 06 at 4:15 pm for guest speakers and a ZOOM Vigil for The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
The Canadian Federation of University Women Victoria and St. Margaret’s School invite you to gather on December 06 to mark the anniversary of the murder of 14 young women in Montreal, killed simply because they were women.
It’s important to remember these women, and others across our country who have suffered or continue to suffer from violence because of their gender or sexual orientation. A CFUW member, an engineering student living in Montreal at the time of the massacre, will offer her reflections on the impact of the incident. Students from the Social Justice class 12 at St. Margaret’s will each light a candle to commemorate the victims.
Speakers from Victoria Women’s Transition House and the BC Community Response Networks for Stopping Adult Abuse will talk about their clients’ needs and the services they offer. A speaker on cyber bullying/stalking will provide insight on this topical issue.
The event is part of the 16 Days of Activism, an international campaign to raise awareness of Gender-Based Violence. Preventing and addressing Gender-Based violence requires a broad spectrum of actions starting with our inner circle of friends and family and all the way to our national and international institutions.
