DAYCARE PHILOSOPHY

Children have the right to respect, value, kindness honesty and choice/power. “Learning through play” is a philosophy that facilitates augments and encourages learning. Play is the natural built-in device for learning. Through playing alone and with other children, the child learns not only to explore their environment, but also to express ideas and feelings. Through experimenting, singing, measuring, talking, tasting, painting, dancing etc. the child will developed into a whole child ( physical, Intellectual, emotional and social).

I believe play is children’s work. The program in the daycare provides opportunities for the children to explore and to play together socially and share with each other.

I encourage children to develop their whole child ( physical, intellectual, emotional and social development) through play and interaction with others.

I understand children can not be forced to learn new skills (e.g. self-help skills, writing, reading, drawing, math and science). Children are provided opportunities to learn new skills according to their developmental levels.

I value the child’s unique feelings, thoughts, temperament and needs.

Children in the centre treated equally with respect (boys, girls, different cultures and special needs). They have equal opportunities to learn and to explore. I also have the expectations for the children. Multiculturalism is included in the program, children are taught to respect other cultures.

I respect parents as primary caregivers for their children. My goal is to build trusting and friendly partnerships with parents.

I provide the children a safe and healthy environment, indoor and outdoor play areas. I also using the community as a classroom, I plan field trips once a month
to enrich their experiences ( farms, museums, library )

Children learn cooperation, generosity, kindness, helpfulness and good manners from adults who guard them closely. I provide them opportunities to learn and to imitate.

I have ECE, Early Childhood Education training from Camosun College. I have up-to-date first aid/ CPR training. I have over 22 years of experience in the childcare field, plus my own two children.

I have a flexible and semi-structured schedule. I provide children a fun and educational environment for them to play and to learning.
