Truth and Reconciliation Day is a day to recognize the survivors of residential schools. Listening to their stories so that the atrocities that happened to them may never be forgotten. It's also to remember that countless children never got the chance to come home.

At Wear2Start, we know that every child matters. It's our commitment to all who experienced the horrors of residential schools that we will never stop in our efforts to create an inclusive and welcoming space for Indigenous women and 2S individuals.

Today is officially Wear2Start Day in the City of Victoria!

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are incredibly honoured that Mayor Marianne Alto has proclaimed September 17, 2026, as Wear2Start Day.

For 25 years, Wear2Start has helped thousands of self-identified women feel confident, supported and empowered as they take the next step in their journey. This recognition belongs to every client who has trusted us, every volunteer who has shared their time and heart, every donor and funder who has believed in our work, and every community partner who has walked alongside us.

What began on September 17, 2001, has grown into something truly special, a community built on dignity, belonging and the belief that everyone deserves to feel confident in who they are and where they are going.

Today, we celebrate how far we have come, the incredible community that made it possible and the meaningful work still ahead.

Happy Wear2Start Day! 💜

I am so incredibly proud to share this story about Wear2Start and the beginning of our 25th anniversary celebrations. 💜
For 25 years, Wear2Start has been helping women move forward with confidence, dignity and hope. Today, that work is more important than ever as the rising cost of living continues to bring more people through our doors.
It is such a privilege to lead this incredible organization alongside our dedicated volunteers, Board and community of supporters. We have an ambitious goal to raise $25,000 for 25 years, helping ensure Wear2Start can continue to be there for everyone who needs us.
Please take a few minutes to watch, share our story and, if you are able, support our campaign. Every donation, every share and every conversation helps us continue this important work. 💜
Here’s to 25 years of confidence, community and changing lives and to everything still ahead.

Another donation of clothing is set to hit the racks at the Wear2Start boutique in downtown Victoria. The charity, made up of an entirely female board, staff and volunteer team, helps nearly 300 c...
