Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour the survivors and their families, and reflect on the ongoing impact of this history.
Orange Shirt Day began in British Columbia with the story of Phyllis Webstad, a residential school survivor. Her words, "Every Child Matters," remind us that truth comes before reconciliation.
At Edison College Canada, we encourage our students, alumni, and staff to take time today to listen, learn, and reflect. You can read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, support Indigenous-led organizations, and seek out Indigenous voices and stories.
Wear orange. Learn the truth. Every Child Matters.
