Our History
Arthur & Pat Harris have owned and operated driver training centers throughout British Columbia since 1975. They have always offered the best driver training programs available on the market, and previously operated as a franchisee of the premier branded driver training company across Canada – until they discovered the DriveWise training program, and they haven’t looked back! Winning many awards over the last 39 years in business, you can rest assured that DriveWise will provide the highest quality driver training that you expect. OLYMPIC TRAINING
In January 2010, DriveWise was chosen to train more than 4,000 volunteer drivers for the Olympic Winter Games held in Vancouver, BC – the only driving school in history to be given such an honor! Working hard in Vancouver and Whistler, the DriveWise team spent months ensuring media, athletes and their families were all safe on the roads during the 2010 Winter Games. DriveWise was selected for this contract because of our high quality of driver training, numerous years in the industry, as well as the driving simulators we are able to offer to all of our students. All of this adds up to our ability to properly train drivers so that they are prepared for any situation they may encounter on our BC roads. ICBC APPROVED
The DriveWise driver training programs are ICBC approved ensuring that our students meet the requirements and expectations of the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia in order to obtain a valid BC drivers license.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, our office will be closed as we pause to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and the experiences of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

As a driving school, we believe that every journey begins with understanding where we’ve come from. We honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and recognize the importance of continuing to learn about the truth of Canada’s history.

May today be a reminder that reconciliation is an ongoing journey; one that calls for listening, respect, education, and meaningful action.
🧡 Every Child Matters.

🚗🚆 Railway Safety Week: Stay Alert. Stay Safe.

When approaching railway crossings, a few seconds of caution can make all the difference. Keep these safety tips in mind:

🔹 Avoid distractions and stay focused on the road.
🔹 Be prepared to stop at every railway crossing.
🔹 At uncontrolled crossings, slow down, look both ways, and listen for approaching trains.
🔹 Follow all railway warning signs and signals.
🔹 Before crossing, make sure there’s enough room for your entire vehicle on the other side of the tracks.
🔹 Never race a train.
🔹 Never stop on the tracks. If your vehicle stalls or gets stuck, leave the vehicle and move to a safe location.

🚆 Trains can take up to two km to come to a full stop! Make safety your first priority at every crossing.

🚸 School zones, playground zones & pedestrian crossings: Do you know the rules?

With students back at school, drivers are sharing the road with more children, pedestrians, cyclists and crossing guards. Take a moment to refresh your knowledge of some important B.C. road rules:

👟 Pedestrian crossings
Drivers must yield the right of way to pedestrians in a crosswalk as required by B.C. law. Slow down, stay alert and be prepared to stop.

🎒 School crossings
School crosswalks require drivers to yield to pedestrians. If a crossing guard or authorized traffic patrol is directing traffic, drivers must follow their instructions.

🏫 School zones
Always check the signs and any additional tabs for the applicable speed limit and hours. A posted 30 km/h school-zone limit applies on school days during the times indicated by the signs.

🛝 Playground zones
A posted 30 km/h playground-zone limit is in effect every day from dawn to dusk.

⚠️ Remember: A sign doesn't just tell you where a school, crosswalk, or playground is, it tells you what you need to do as a driver.

Slow down. Scan ahead. Watch for children. And give yourself extra time around schools and crossings.

Let's make getting to and from school a little safer for everyone. 🚗💛

🚌 Back to school means more school buses on the road, and it’s important to know the rules when you encounter one.

Do you know when you’re required to stop for a school bus with flashing red lights?

Here's what BC driver's need to know:

🛑 Which directions of traffic are required to stop
📏 How much stopping distance you should allow
▶️ When you can safely and legally proceed
🚧 When a median changes the stopping requirements
💰 The penalties and fines for failing to stop

Whether you're commuting, dropping kids off at school, or simply sharing the road, taking a moment to review the rules can help keep students safe.

Slow down, stay alert, and know when you need to stop.
