A lot has changed at SMUS over the years, but teachers have always been at the heart of the school. 💙

Many of the teachers who helped shape SMUS in years past are still remembered by the students they taught and the colleagues they worked alongside. Today’s teachers are making their own mark, building on that history while bringing their own personalities, ideas and experiences to the classroom.

Field notes from Bamfield 🌊🐡🔬

Grade 11 and 12 Environmental Science students spent the week at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, trading the classroom for the west coast. Through hands-on fieldwork, marine surveys, rainforest hikes and experiments alongside professional scientists, students explored the ecosystems they’ve been studying from a whole new perspective.

“We got to learn so many new things and see things from the sight of a scientist… I must admit that the dredging was my favourite thing on the whole trip because it was just so interesting to see what lives on the floor of the sea.”
