Today, October 4, we commemorate the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two Spirit, and Gender Diverse People.

Today is a solemn time to reflect, listen, and act. Our hearts are with the people who have been lost, the survivors, the families, and the communities who continue to carry their stories.

Within this statement, we respond to the Calls for Justice 11.2 and 15.7 outlined in the (2019) "Reclaiming Power a d Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry Into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls."

Please continue reading to learn more and join us tomorrow in the David Strong Building at the University of Victoria for a community gathering with a film screening of "Finding Dawn," a flower decorating activity, and a bake sale to raise funds.

We will be in room C128 from 2:30 to 5:20 pm.

On October 7th, from 4-7 pm, we will be hosting our monthly game night! This event is open to anyone from the commute, so bring a friend or come ready to make some new ones.

We have a selection of board games to choose from, so there will be a little something for every. We look forward to playing with you!

This Truth and Reconciliation Day we invite our community to stand up for Indigenous families, residential school survivors, and all communities impacted by colonial violence.

On Monday, September 28th, the GEM Collective and Anti-Violence Project invite you to our International Safe Abortion Day Celebration, honouring the pro-choice movement and its continue to modern day autonomy over reproductive choices.

The event will take place in the SUB Courtyard from 1-4 pm! (Or the Sub upper lounge if the day is not nice out!)

International Safe Abortion Day celebrates the history of advocacy that has advanced reproductive laws across the globe. With the current state of law around the world, and the constant regression in human Rights, it's crucial that we stand together to defend everyone's right to equitable healthcare.

During this event, we will screen print messages in support of the movement, provide information on safe abortion resources, and provide snacks.

Drop in to learn more about how to continue supporting bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.

We provide free menstrual and safer s*x supplies, a kitchenette with appliances and snacks, a lounge for reading and relaxing, a library and craft space, and of course support from our staff!

Do you want to join us to pet some goats? On August 24th from 3-5 pm we will be visiting Beacon Hill Children's Farm together to make some new fuzzy friends.

The cost for admission will be covered! The participating UVSS groups will cover the admission fee and one ice cream cone from Beacon Hill Drive In (soft serve).

You can either meet us at Beacon Hill Children's Farm at 3 pm, or take the bus with us from UVic. We will be meeting at 1:55 pm outside the SUB to take the bus together.

Registration is required for this event and spaces will be limited. Please sign up with the link in our bio!
