I want to acknowledge the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day honours the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities forever impacted.
It is a time for reflection on this painful legacy and a commitment to ongoing learning, understanding, and reconciliation.
September 30th is also Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous‑led initiative that raises awareness of the intergenerational impacts of residential schools. Wearing orange is a powerful symbol of remembrance and solidarity, reminding us that Every Child Matters.
I encourage everyone to wear orange on Wednesday and to take time to engage with resources, events, or conversations that deepen our understanding of this history.
