What a great group of presenters! We had a large group of 35 grade 7 students in a classroom, they kept their attention the whole time! Teachers and students all learned and had a great time. Very interactive and informative! The presentation was one hour long and I was amazed at how great they were able to take turns making sure everyone spoke and the information that they were able to share. The power point was fun, interesting and interactive. The activity was enjoyed by all. All the students and adults made a Tensegrity as a keepsake. The buzz in the hallway afterwards were comments like, "that was so fun", "they should come back", etc. Thank you so much for coming to Sparwood Secondary!

I'm trying to find a "math is fun" activity for 5-6 year olds. It's better if it doesn't teach them anything useful. Any ideas (in the next hour or two?)
36,000 rubber bands have arrived in anticipation of this year's demand! Now if only we could get more volunteers to present and make materials!

Math is Fun? Yes & GeoBurst Proves it! » Jim Cambridge Students at Dunsmuir had a great mathematical “treat” on Monday with a workshop lead by Mathematician, Alejandro Erikson. Erikson and his fiancee, Kassia run GeoBurst and Match Catcher- great interactive workshops for students.

Visited Duncan Christian School yesterday. Going to two schools in Sooke on Monday. Math Mania on Tuesday! Looking for volunteers for these two upcoming events. Rides provided.

GeoBurst and Math Catcher went to Pemberton Secondary on January 22. Here is one of the students' responses:
That was one of the most amazing presentations I have ever seen and I really like the idea of going to SFU. When the students spoke, it really encouraged me to want to work harder and fight towards my goals. I love math and after this I love it even more. This presentation really brought out the beauty of math in another view, and I hope the mesage your sending continues to spread because I think it is very important for students our age to hear it.
GeoBurst will be at Fresh Minds Symposium at UVic on February 20.
