JDC West Team Gustavson

JDC West is the most prestigious undergraduate business competition in Western Canada, hosting 1,300 attendees and uniting over 650 delegates from twelve premier post-secondary institutions each year.

Over the course of three days, students from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba showcase their skills in the academic, athletic, debate, and social aspects of the competition.

Team Gustavson JDC West is proud to represent The Gustavson School of Business in the JDC West case competition in 2022 this year hosted in Manitoba by the Asper School of Business!

INTRODUCING GUSTAVSON’S 2020-2021 EXECUTIVE TEAM!

First, the wonderful captains:
Curren Ward, Kate Power, & Thomas Fyfe!

Back for his third year in JDC West, Curren is stoked to be one of the captains representing Team Gusty! In Curren’s first year, he competed on the Marketing team and last year he was a part of the Entrepreneurship team that placed third at the last competition (shoutout .power & )! This year, Curren is most excited to see our team crush it at the virtual competition!

Kate is back for her second year representing Team Gustavson and we are so excited to have her back as a captain in 2021! After previously being on the Entrepreneurship team in Regina 2020, Kate cannot wait to help lead all of the Gustavson Teams to victory! This year, Kate is most excited to get to experience being amongst the first captains to train and connect with our teams virtually! She mentions that “Although challenging, I’m super excited to make the most of these circumstances and explore new ways to do things!”

Thomas has represented Team Gustavson during his first year on athletics and was the athletics captain in his second year! He is back and as ready as ever to kick off JDC’s virtual competition in 2021! Thomas is looking forward to bringing the team together to create a bond with everyone that is a part of JDC West whether they’re from UVic or another school.

Avery Stuart
Avery is back for her second year representing Team Gustavson at JDC West and is super pumped to be this year’s Director of Media and Communications!! Avery is most excited to partake in the “behind the scenes” aspect of JDC and can’t wait to see what JDC 2021 will be like online!

Seth McClimans
This is Seth’s very first year at JDC and we are so excited to have him as our Director of Corporate Relations! Seth mentions that “even with the uncertainty surrounding JDC West and COVID, I am stoked that we are changing and growing with the times. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.”

Maija Phelan
Introducing Maija our Director of Online Presence! Maija is most excited to develop her skills virtually and to create a larger online presence for JDC West Team Gustavson. Maija notes that creating connections during this uncertain year will be key!

Ben Joubert
We are welcoming Ben back for his second JDC West competition as one of Gusty’s Executives of Corporate Relations! Ben is excited to see what new challenges the JDC West competition will have in store!

Carl Haynes
Carl is back again for his second year of JDC West and we are so excited to have him as one of our Executives of Corporate Relations! In the upcoming year, Carl is looking forward to helping the Gustavson team create meaningful relationships with business and community groups!

Elan Arrata
Introducing our Executive of Charity, Elan! This is Elan’s first year at JDC West and he is most excited about getting involved in his degree, meeting new people, and working towards something he is passionate about!

Kiah Duffy
Introducing our Executive of Logistics, Kiah! This first-time JDC West’er is excited to see how everything’s going to look switching over to online. She notes ‘I think it’s going to be an interesting learning experience for everyone.”
