Applications are open for VIDEA’s annual Winter Fair.

🕚 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
📍 Fernwood Community Centre

There’s no table fee to take part.

For more than 20 years, VIDEA’s Winter Fair has brought people together in Victoria for a day of holiday shopping and community. We’d love to welcome vendors offering art, handmade goods, clothing, jewellery, gifts, personal care products, food and more.

A little look back at our Roots & Rising Retreat 💜✨

Our Roots & Rising crew spent the weekend creating, connecting, and learning together — including making some absolutely beautiful ribbon skirts and delicious jam!

We were so grateful to have Elder Jodie and Elder Flora join us, sharing their time, knowledge, and lots of laughs along the way!

A huge thank you to everyone who made the retreat such a special weekend!

🌿 We’re excited to see VIDEA’s Beyond the River team featured by the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance!

Beyond the River: Rethinking Conservation Through Reconciliation & Relationship explores what conservation can look like when relationships with Land, water, community, and one another are at the heart of the work!

The article highlights Beyond the River’s “whole person, whole ecosystem” approach, the importance of creating space for Indigenous youth and Indigenous Knowledge in conservation, and the role environmental work can play in making reconciliation tangible!

As Beyond the River Community Coordinator Stephenie White shares, “Policies against water are policies against women.”

Indigenous people should not have to encounter masked groups gathering on their own Lands in an apparent attempt to intimidate them ever and definitely not in the days leading up to the National day on Truth and Reconciliation. The responsibility for responding to racism and white supremacy should not continually fall on Indigenous peoples. Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc is aware that individuals associated with Second Sons Canada, a group linked to white supremacist and white nationalist ideology, have been seen in our community. Chief and Council are taking this seriously. We are monitoring the situation, assessing additional security measures and working with the RCMP.
