💕🌺❤️Meet our lovely Miss Jean! She is going on her third year at Island Montessori as an educator and came to us with 14 years of early childhood education experience. She is a very valuable and unique member of our team with her extensive experience in every area of early childhood education and specializations in special needs and infant/toddler. Jean is vibrant and always full of energy, she has a passion for nature and physical activity. She is extremely creative and artistic! Messy learning never scares her away! She is always looking for new ways to reinvent her classroom and keep children engaged while fostering their interests and love of learning. Jean has a wonderful sense of humour and always has kids (and adults) laughing. ❤️Her magnetic, positive personality and love of the profession make her one of a kind. ❤️💕✨Meet Miss Cindy! She is a wonderful Montessori trained educator with extensive experience and extraordinary musical talents. Cindy enjoys supporting children as they discover their own abilities and potential. In her own words, “one of my greatest joys is watching each child grow and develop in their own unique way.” Cindy is a talented musician and is often found connecting with children through song. She usually has her ukulele near by and always has a song in mind 🎶. Outside of school Cindy loves walking and hiking with her dog Thorney 🐕 (pictured above🥰). She translates this deep love of nature into her work with the children as she loves to take them on the nearby trails for nature walks. Cindy loves to read and learn more about many subjects. Like Cindy says, “I believe as an educator, there is always more to learn.” She is an incredibly hard working educator who we are so fortunate to work with. We are so excited to see what amazing ideas she has for her class this fall! 🍃🍁🍂

The sacred connection that the SENĆOŦEN speaking people have to their homeland exists despite attempts to erase it; and acknowledging this condensed history allows for settlers to be active participants in ensuring that the harms of the recent past are not replicated.

🦋☀️when thinking of materials sometimes less is more. Play dough has been a staple in early childhood education for years and there’s good reasons why. It is so versatile and there are endless possibilities for learning and creativity. Paired with natural materials these children enjoyed this invitation to play so much we made it for them twice!
💐🌷🌺Activity of the day 💐✂️🌺: Flower arranging! What do we do when lovely littles bring us flowers they collected on their way to school? Impromptu flower arranging practical life work! Benefits: fine motor control ✅ spatial awareness ✅multi step activity✅ aesthetic appreciation of nature✅fun✅ This particular activity was completed by many children and then they decided it would be the centrepiece of their tea party that afternoon 🫖 This is a beautiful, simple, and meaningful activity you can try with kids at home or in a classroom!
