Top honour for GNS Alum at Stanford; Big shout out to his GNS Chem Teacher 08/18/2026

As summer nears its end, we look back to a remarkable moment from earlier this spring. GNS Alum Brian Lim '22 was awarded the prestigious Frederick Emmons Terman Engineering Scholastic Award, presented to just 30 top graduating engineering students at Stanford University. As part of this honour, Brian invited the teacher who shaped his academic journey — GNS IB Chemistry teacher and Coordinator of Academic Programming, Ms. Erin Dallin.

“When I received the invitation to attend this ceremony with Brian, I have to admit that I needed to read it several times to fully grasp what was being conveyed. Not because I was surprised that Brian would be honoured with the Terman Award—far from it—but because I was included in that honour.”

Read more about Brian and Ms. Dallin's unforgettable experience in the link below:

Reminder - Help Us Create a Legacy: Retirement Memory Books

As we prepare to say goodbye to four of our legendary teachers, we are assembling special Commemorative Memory Books to celebrate their incredible impact. We need your voices to make this gift truly unforgettable! Rather than a simple signature, we encourage you to get creative and share your memories in whatever format suits you best.

We are honouring four remarkable educators who have shaped our community:

Teresa Johnson, a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant for 17 years, is known for her kindness as a crossing guard and her "Sunshine Committee" spirit, and she is now heading off for well-deserved granddaughter snuggles.

Nancy Fletcher, our imaginative Junior School Art teacher since 2010, has brought magic to every school musical and project, and we wish her the best as she finally hangs up her apron to travel.

Kath Wild, a warm presence at GNS for 24 years, has spent her career inspiring Grade 1 and 2 students with her bright smile and enthusiasm for pickleball, and she is eager to trade the classroom for travel and time with her family.

Sarah McLeod, our Beach Drive Teacher-Librarian since 2016, has spent 35 years in education fostering a love for reading and inquiry, and she is looking forward to many more outdoor adventures and quiet chapters ahead.

Whether you prefer a short heartfelt note, a funny meme, or a long-form essay detailing their influence, every contribution is valued. You can also submit visual memories like individual photos, a creative collage of snapshots, or even a fully custom-designed layout. From inside jokes to deep reflections, this is your chance to share the legacy these four educators are leaving behind.

Links for each teacher in the comments. Please submit your contributions by the deadline of Friday, May 22, 2026. We can't wait to see what you create!
