My son turns 11 very soon. This is a photo of him only a week old. Where do the years go? I certainly don’t know. But I treasure them all, and truly can’t imagine what life would be like without his beautiful soul in our lives. ♥️

Sometimes births go a different direction than we had hoped. Sometimes biology has different plans, sometimes the situation shifts and plans need to change. But ultimately at the end of the birth, my hope is that no matter what came your way during the birth of your baby, you were regularly informed, cared for, and listened to.

Noodle box after a 17.5 hour shift with almost no breaks? Yes please!! 🥴 The question of the cost for a doula, and whether we charge too much, unfortunately comes up a lot. “Why would I pay you so much money to be there for the birth of my baby?” There are many ways to answer this of course, but sometimes it’s because I will be there, for you, for as long as it takes. Last night, it meant continuous support for almost 18 hours. On my feet, with very little chance to take care of my own body, because my job is to care of yours. ♥️ I do it gladly, and half the time the fatigue doesn’t catch up to me until after I get home, but this is a good example of why this is a very challenging job sometimes. So incredibly rewarding! But it usually takes a few days to convince my feet that we do this for amazing reasons. 😅 Time to relax, enjoy my noodle box, and prepare for the next exciting birth!

I just love moments like these. It was during a birth where it seemed like I wasn’t being all that useful; the husband and wife were working absolutely amazingly together, and doing a beautiful job of bringing their baby into this world. I was feeling almost like they didn’t really need me there, when my client said this to me. It was in that moment that I realized - I had been bringing her water so he didn’t have to think about it. I had been getting warm blankets and hot compresses from the hallway so he could stay close for her to lean on. I was making sure he ate a snack so he could focus on supporting his partner. My job is never to replace the birthing partner - my role is hopefully to enhance the team working to support the person giving birth!

Midwives are such a great choice! Consider these lovely ladies if you're due within the specified timelines. :)

Just a fun late-night thought! Share something positive you remember from your birth, or births. Could be big, could be small! Sometimes a mom-to-be just needs to hear some uplifting stories to keep them going! And remember, "birth" can mean any number of things! Home birth, hospital birth, c-section, induction...these are all part of our stories.

Haven't posted on here in a while! Been to a number of births now - 5 I believe! And every one was so amazing, and special, and truly empowering to be a part of. Props out to all you hard working mamas, before, during, and after the birth process!!
My little one turns 3 tomorrow, and she's a fire-cracker, no doubt about that. 3 years ago, at this time, I was in a bath thinking "yep, I'm in labor." So hard to believe...where does the time go? Cherish the moments with your little ones. You'll hear it time and time again as the years go by, but they truly don't stay little forever.

Happy Mothers Day to all those amazing mamas whom I know, who I have helped bring their first (and second and third!) little ones into the world, and all the mamas out there excitedly awaiting the arrival of the little one inside to make it official! You are all amazing!!

Well this is it! I have now attended two births as a practicing Doula, and both were amazing. I am setting up this page to raise awareness for my little business, with the hopes that if you know someone who is expecting, and is looking for a little extra bit of help or pampering when the big day comes, you will remember me and pass along my name! Thank you everyone!
