Here’s proof that women in STEM do, in fact, touch grass 🌱

This team is currently developing an MRI simulator to help kids feel more prepared before their scans.

This year, WEST members collaborated with the club on the 2025–2026 Mars Rover for the Canadian International Rover Challenge (CIRC), marking our first collaboration with a student club.

🔧 Mechanical designed the rover’s rocker-bogie suspension to navigate rough terrain.

⚡ Electrical documented and organized the rover’s electrical system.

💻 Software developed a ROS-based control system and tested rover movement in simulation.

At the showcase, teams presented their work, received valuable feedback from judges, and had the opportunity to network.

Together, the teams created designs, simulations, and documentation that support the rover’s future development and integration for the upcoming competition.

On December 3rd, WEST hosted the showcase to wrap up the first half of the MRI Simulator Project, in collaboration with Fraser Health.

Our participants on each sub team showcased their design solutions in response to the project statement, and received feedback from a panel of judges, consisting of academic and industry professionals.
