Many Métis families relied on seasonal employment, working for farmers, clearing fields, picking Seneca root, and other labour jobs to support themselves. In this coming-of-age story, a young Joe works hard picking rocks in order to make money to go to the North Battleford Fair. Will they be able to finish the job in time?
