Sweet success! 🍋 Bright minds, big hearts, and $965 raised for our community!
Our campers at the My First Lemonade Stand camp (with SPARK Business Academy) put their entrepreneurial skills and hearts to work—raising a sweet $965 for two amazing causes!
Thanks to their hard work and our community’s generosity, the proceeds are being donated to:

Student Spotlight: Malak ’27
Deputy Head Prefect Malak ’27 will be performing with the Victoria Symphony alongside Maestro Giuseppe Pietraroia at Symphony in the Summer at The Butchart Gardens!

Malak plays the violin and has been a member of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra (GVYO) for the past three years, where she currently serves as co-concertmaster. She is also an accomplished pianist studying under Edwin Gnandt.
Her musical achievements are nothing short of extraordinary:
* Two-time Canadian Music Competition (CMC) Finalist
* National Gold Medalist for RCM Level 5 & Level 7 violin exams
* First Class Honours with Distinction on her RCM Grade 10 violin exam
* Multiple award winner at the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival (GVPAF) and the VAYA International Festival
* 2024 BC Provincials Candidate in both solo violin and chamber music
At SMS, Malak seamlessly balances her musical talent with our rigorous IB Diploma Programme—a wonderful testament to how our flexible learning options nurture each student’s unique pathways.
“This year has been filled with so many opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom,” Malak shared. “...I am very grateful to be part of a school that encourages students to pursue their interests and get involved.”

The results are in, and we are proud to celebrate the hard work and academic excellence of our Grade 12 International Baccalaureate students.
This year, our IB program expanded participation while maintaining strong top-tier achievement:
Growing Our Reach: Nearly 80% of our Grade 12 class took on the IB challenge, welcoming 7 more exam takers than last year.
High-Achieving Excellence: Over 27% of our IB Diploma Candidates scored 35+ points, placing them in the upper echelon of IB students globally.
Consistent Mastery: 70% of all individual course exams scored a 4 or higher.
Individual Distinction: A special recognition to the 4 students who earned a maximum grade of 7 in their courses.
