The Alberta Fire Training Conference is excited to welcome Bassel Ibrahem as this years instructor for our HOT Training Program.

With over 20 years in the fire service, Bassel currently serves as a Company Officer with the Orlando Fire Department. He is the founder of the Firefighter Mayday Survey and owner and lead instructor of Proactive Rescue Operations (PRO), where he specializes in Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT), firefighter survival, leadership, and realistic fireground training.

Throughout his career, Bassel has instructed firefighters across North America, contributed to leading fire service publications, and presented at conferences and workshops focused on firefighter safety, leadership, and operational excellence.

His HOT Training Program is designed to develop confident, disciplined, and efficient firefighters through hands-on, performance-driven training. Participants will gain practical skills, improve decision-making under stress, and strengthen their ability to operate safely and effectively in high-risk environments.

This is an incredible opportunity to learn from one of the fire service's most respected instructors and take your fireground skills to the next level.

IAFF Local 1298 congratulates our President, Brad Collicutt, on receiving his 25 Years of Service Medal.

For 25 years, Brad has served the citizens of Powell River with professionalism, dedication, and leadership. In addition to his service on the fire department, he has spent countless hours advocating for the members of Local 1298 and helping strengthen our union.

On behalf of the membership, thank you for your commitment to the fire service, your fellow firefighters, and our community.

QUARTERLY MEETING

All firefighters are invited to join us for our quarterly meeting on June 26, starting around 6:30 at This will hopefully be convenient for all those attending Nozzle Forward at that weekend.

This will be the most northern FOOLS event we’ve ever hosted - hoping to see lots of new faces for a fun evening of brotherhood and brews!

Augusta – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the firefighter killed in the line of duty in yesterday’s Searsmont explosion as 27-year-old Morrill Firefighter Andrew Cross. State Fire Marshal Shawn Esler said, “Our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with the firefighter’s family, loved ones, and colleagues during this devastating time.

The Maine State Police will assist with the honorable transfer this morning from the Medical Examiner’s Office at 34 Hospital Street. The procession will travel along Route 3 to Risposta’s Funeral Home in Belfast. Further information on funeral arrangements and memorial services will be shared as details become available.
