Hello 😊 I’m reopening Kiln 9 — and also closing this Okanagan chapter of it. 🩵
Thank you for the support over all the years — it’s been great being part of this community.
I’ve been navigating a serious health condition, and I’m getting better. However, it’s left my body with a heightened sensitivity to heat. As much as I love it here, I’ll be seeking a cooler climate this fall.
So, I’ll be having a sale on certain dates, and I wanted you to know first.
☕️ Cups, teabowls, vases, serving platters, plateware, jewelry — some familiar, some new.
📍 Studio sale: October 24–25, Vernon (exact location shared a few days before)
🛍️ Anything left afterward goes online — pickup only, no shipping. A few more pieces may be added through November as well.
No markets this year, no Christmas sale. This is the one chance.
I’ll be back creating soon, in a new studio I’m genuinely excited about — I hope you’ll follow along for the next part of this.
It’s been a joy and a privilege.

Phase ONE of my webstore is now live!

This is just an appetizer of my available ceramics… My eyes were bigger than my stomach when loading my plate (and website) for this update and I underestimated how much time required to prepare for today’s release…

For now, I have most of my espresso cups, Chawans, and tumblers live…

What’s coming for the next course is: full-sized mugs, plateware, bowls, tapas and charcuterie serveware along with a stunning series of bud vases and flower vessels just in time for some spring stoke.
And with pink-cheek smiles of adoration, I have a collection of pottery jewellery pieces for all of you Valentine’s Day cuties.

I know it’s going to be a great meal, and this is the appetizer, so stay tuned and I will drop more tasty updates over the next couple days…
It’s a slow roast over here but well worth the wait!

Trimming pots in the studio today thinking about how, as a creative, when you're onto something that's real, something that you really should be doing, self doubt is enormous.
I know from experience that the bigger the resistance, the bigger the dream... and when I look back to where I was in my professional artist journey in 2006 when I first graduated Art School, I would have never imagined I would be a full time professional ceramic artist living my ultimate dream.

This wasn't given to me. It wasn't talent.
It was the courage to step outside what was expected of me and recognize that I want to live differently, knowing it was going to take incredible amounts of hard work, focus, resistance, failure, suffering, pain, and risk to arrive here.

Not everyone is born to be an artist and to pursue this type of life which is to invite a certain amount of suffering and doubt into your experience that not all people have the constitution for.
We all have our own unique blueprint and have something to create and express that is idiosyncratically ours and there's something really important about everyone exploring this within themselves.

We're all here to create something... whether it's in art, writing, craft, design, culinary arts, farming, sport, family or business... it's worth asking yourself what resistance is keeping you from pursuing your dreams?
