WOWEE, what a week! 🎨✨ Week 1 of Vernon Arts Summer School was FULL of creativity, learning, new skills and plenty of “look what I made!” moments.

From fused glass and illustration to writing, clay and fibre arts, our participants were busy making, experimenting and pushing their creative boundaries. And honestly… we’re pretty impressed with what they came up with! ☺️

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Week 1 and brought their creativity, curiosity and enthusiasm to VASS.

And to our incredible instructors who joined us from near and far: Carolyn Fisher, Arlene Westen, Artist, Patricia Doyle (Bella Vista Glass Art), Annabel Stanley, and Cathy Toll. We’re so grateful to have you sharing your skills and knowledge with our community!

Week 1 was a masterpiece… and Week 2 was pretty special too. 👀 Stay tuned for a peek at what came next! 🖌️

UPDATE: Due to an incredible amount of generosity from our community members, we will no longer be taking art supply donations. Thank you to all who have donated💞

Our call for art supplies is for all those affected by any of the surrounding fires who are seeking refuge. We have already received so many donations and we can not express our gratitude enough to our community for showing up for one another during these challenging times♥

We are calling on our arts community to come together in support of families displaced by the fires. Many young people are spending long days in transition hotels. Some waiting to return home, other families face the reality that they no longer have one.

We are collecting new or gently used art supplies to help keep kids and teens engaged, comforted, and creatively occupied during an incredibly difficult time.
Water colour pencils, small brushes, paper, colouring pencils, crayons, colouring books, etc...

If you are able to donate, your contribution will make a real difference for families navigating uncertainty and loss.

Donations can be dropped off at the Vernon Community Arts Centre - 2704A Hwy 6, Vernon, in Polson Park

Thank you for showing up with compassion and community care.

Thank you to the Social Planning Council of the North Okanagan for letting us know about this need.

We hope our space can offer a small moment of comfort and creativity during this difficult time. 💛
