Lovely to see a Maven Lane alumni still connecting with us! Officer Makenna Lane used to attend Maven Lane way back when we were at Beairsto, as well as working here for a summer. Here she is, recently helping with a tour of the firehall, and helping the children experience the weight of the firehose in action. So proud of Makenna for following her dream! Fun fact, Officer Makenna still has strong connections with us because her dad Kevin is our Transportation Manager!

What a wonderful time everyone had visiting the 'grandma's and grandpa's' of Parkwood Regency retirement home. The children sang their diligently rehearsed Christmas carols. Then they handed out otheir home-made Cristmas cards to the residents, having a few chats and spreading good cheer. In return, the children enjoyed a (still warm) cookie while they watched a Christmas movie played at their in-house movie theatre. Sharing intergenerational Christmas joy... this is what the season is all about!!!

Look who paid us a visit today!

One of our SA groups has been monitoring the playground garden all summer long. Interestingly, they could see the potato plants grow, but not see the potatoes. Harvest time was very exciting, to finally see what was underneath all those green leaves! The children used spoons and ladles to dig their crops up. It was tricky to make sure they found them all: every time they thought they got them all, another scoop revealed more! They filled 11 little baggies in total. The children considered what they could make with the potatoes, but as we cannot cook vegetables in the programs it was decided to send them home and let the families create together!
