Our corn crop is coming along nicely. When the school groups return in the fall the children will help us harvest the corn and feed some of our animals.

Fiona hit Prince Edward Island on September 24, 2022, bringing destructive winds over 170 km/h. Unfortunately we lost many trees at Orwell including our majestic pines in front of Clarke's store. Staff and students decided to plant beautiful plants at the base of one of our lost trees.

For rural Islanders, the quiet drama of daily life was played out within the small world of their community,birth, play, education, religion work, romance and death. The Community Hall was a popular centre for concerts, dances, box lunch socials, bees, debates and public meetings The original Orwell hall burned down in the 1950s and was replaced in the 1970s. Traditional events are still held at the hall: weekly throughout the summer, singers, dancers and musicians gather for the ceilidhs, Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!

The Orwell School is valued as a well-preserved representation of rural school architecture in 19th century Prince Edward Island. Constructed in 1895, the school replaced several that had been in the area since the first crude log structure in 1825. It operated until 1969 when school consolidation forced it to close.

The Orwell Church (former St. Andrew's United Church) is valued as a well-preserved example of a Gothic Revival style early Scottish Presbyterian house of worship in Prince Edward Island. It was constructed in 1861 for a growing congregation and was then affiliated with the nearby Belfast Presbyterian Church and shared a minister.
