Begun as a provincial fire training school in 1959, ETC has been part of Lakeland College since 1998. It is Canada's premiere emergency services training facility. We train on-site at ETC or at a client’s workplace, as well as offering distance learning to individuals. Our two pre-professional programs are emergency services technologist, a unique combination of emergency medical and firefighting, and firefighter training, a 12-week program that exceeds NFPA 1001 requirements.

Have you ever thought about becoming a first responder but aren’t sure where to start? Here you can find a brief run down of each of our individual programs to help you decide which one is the best fit for you.

Platoon 3 is our 12 week on-site firefighter certificate program.

Program runs Summer - Fall:
- July - October 2027

- 1001 Level 1
- 1001 Level 2
- Dangerous Goods, Responder - Awareness
- Dangerous Goods Responder - Operations
- Fire Apparatus - Driving and Maintenance
- Fire Apparatus- Pumping Operations
