Wonder Wednesday! πππ₯
Ever wonder what happens to the milk after it leaves our cows? Hereβs a little peek behind the scenes at the Dairy Learning Centre! π
π₯ The milk gets Picked up every 2 days β Our milk gets picked up along with other farms on a scheduled route.
βοΈ Kept cold & fresh β Until pickup, the milk is stored in a refrigerated stainless-steel bulk tank that keeps it cold and gently stirs it to maintain consistency.
π§ͺ Sampled before it leaves the farm β The milk truck driver takes a sample and grades the milk before itβs loaded onto the truck.
π¬ Tested at the processor β Once it arrives, the milk is tested for antibiotics and quality before itβs unloaded and begins its next steps in the journey to becoming quality milk or dairy products.
π Once picked up our milk is headed to Saskatoon for processing!
From our cows, to the bulk tank, to the milk truck and beyond β there are lots of important steps along the way to make sure the milk is safe, fresh and high quality. πππ₯Look for the blue cow symbol to ensure your buying from Canadian Dairy Farmers!

As the year is winding down, we are extremely excited to announce our 2026-2027 General Manager for the Dairy Unit!
Hello, my name is Rhett Terpstra, I come from a 200 head beef farm in Bornholm, Ontario. Over the years, my involvement in 4-H and hands-ons experience working on a dairy farm have shaped my strong passion for the dairy industry.
I am very excited to be the General Manager of the Lakeland Dairy SMF team for the upcoming year. Iβm looking forward to continuing to build my knowledge through both my studies and practical experience, and am very excited for the year ahead.
