Assalamalkum, Unfortunately due to the landlord of 12000 Jane Street, unwillingness to let MAC out of the lease agreement. The York Academy, will not be starting this year. Inshallah, all efforts will continue to be made to find a the perfect location, and the perfect environment for an Islamic Private School. We will post updates on facebook for next year. As Salamu Alaikum dear parents,

Inshallah we hope and pray this finds you in the best iman, health and spirits. It has been a busy summer since MAC advised school parents of the closure of York Islamic School. After speaking with parents and community members, we realized there is a need for a local Islamic School. After looking at possible alternate sites, speaking with community members and leaders, we realized that the current location meets community need best. We have spoken with MAC and the landlord of York Islamic School and we are in the process of finalizing a lease take over until end of contract in 2020 inshallah. We have reinvented the school as The York Academy.

We extend our thanks to Allah SWT for helping us progress to this point. Secondly, we extend our gratitude to all parents for their support and commitment. We believe with Allah's Grace and Mercy and a professional team of qualified stakeholders, The York Academy will support students in their pursuit of excellence and grow as a community institution. As legal work nears completion inshallah, we have begun preparing the property for school to potentially begin on September 18, 2017.

We are excited to offer a solution in meeting the educational needs of our community through a team composed of educators, parents, and local Imaams. We are thrilled to welcome
Ms. Azam, and Sr. Hoda to the faculty of The York Academy. We continue to interview qualified Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT) to ensure an engaging and beneficial program. Inshallah we will be scheduling a parent orientation session before school starts; an email with the exact date and outline will follow once legal items are finalized.

We kindly request all interested parents for a September 18, 2017 school start to register your child/ren at our new school website at www.theyorkacademy.com. Please be advised we need a commitment for the entire school year to ensure school success this year and long term viability.

If you would like to help prepare for the first day of school, please contact Sr. Saira at 416-989-0185. Inshallah we will update parents as we progress, we are planning for Sept 19, 2017 as the first day of school at The York Academy.
