Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, UniversalCare honours the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

We recognize the lasting impact of residential schools and the importance of listening, learning, and reflecting on the truths and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

Last week, welcomed MPP Ric Bresee Hastings-Lennox & Addington as part of Long-Term Care Engagement Day.

It was a pleasure to show MPP Bresee around our new home, introduce him to members of our team and residents, and share the work happening each day to provide quality, resident-centred care in Madoc.

Thank you, MPP Bresee, for spending time with our Clare McFaul community and for the thoughtful conversation about long-term care in Ontario.

A special week at Clare McFaul Long-Term Care Home as we welcomed our very first residents.

After years of planning and preparation, seeing our residents walk through the doors and begin making their home was a moment we will never forget.

To our residents and their families: thank you for placing your trust in us. To our staff: we are grateful to you for your commitment to providing exceptional care to our residents. We are so happy to be a part of the community.

Today marks an important milestone for Clare McFaul Long-Term Care Home and the Ontario Government. After years of planning, construction and preparation, the home is officially open.

The name Clare McFaul carries a special history in this community. Clare dedicated many years to public service, including serving as Reeve and later Warden, and was known for his commitment to his community and the people who called it home. We are proud that his name and legacy will live on through a place dedicated to caring for others.

Opening a new long-term care home takes the work and commitment of many people. A special thank you to the , , the entire Town Council and municipal staff for their support and partnership throughout this journey. We are also grateful to the for its support in making this new home a reality.

Thank you as well to every person who worked to bring Clare McFaul Long-Term Care Home from an idea and a plan to the beautiful home you see today.

We are incredibly proud to officially open the doors of and begin this next chapter in .
