Young Adult and Children’s Services (YAACS) is a section of the British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) dedicated to supporting library staff who serve children, teens, and families throughout British Columbia. Founded in 1980, our members include librarians, library-technicians, teacher-librarians and other library workers interested in services to youth in British Columbia. Our purpose is to promote the exchange of ideas among library personnel who work with Children and Young Adults.

This month's lunchtime meet-up will be a storytime ideas swap! Join us on Wed, August 26th at noon to have some fun while sharing storytime tips and tricks.

Attend our regular YAACS meetings to learn about current initiatives, share ideas, and connect with colleagues working in communities across the province. Meetings take place the last Wednesday of each month from 12:00 to 1:00 PM (PST) on Zoom. The Zoom meeting link is shared on the online forum the week prior to the monthly meeting date.

Registration is OPEN for this year's CAT Conference!

The Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) and Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) are pleased to co-host the 2026 Children and Teen Services Conference (CATS), a free one-day professional development event for library staff from across BC.

The conference will feature presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities focused on programming, community engagement, STEAM learning, youth services, and creating welcoming spaces for all young people.

Mark your calendars for a meet-up all about SRC on Wed, June 24th at noon!
Special guest Georgia will give tips on how to navigate all of that fab BC SRC content and there will be plenty of time to swap SRC ideas with colleagues from across the province.

Our meeting is Wed, May 27 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. We will be joined by guest speaker Kate Buium (she/hers), a Senior Knowledge Broker with the Knowledge to Action Team at the University of British Columbia’s School of Population and Public Health, to talk about the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP).

Anyone interested in library services for children and teens is welcome to join us. We welcome folks to enjoy their lunch/have a snack while the meeting takes place. To get the Zoom link, log into the YAACS forum a day or two before the meeting.
