Navigating the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) for autism can feel overwhelming. This guide breaks down eligibility, what “markedly restricted” means, how to apply, and how DTC approval connects to BC funding.
Approval is based on how a child functions in daily life, not diagnosis alone. Applying early can help prevent delays in accessing supports.
If you’re unsure where to start, this is a good first step. Save this post, share it with someone who might need it, or reach out if you have questions or want help understanding the process.
This post is for informational purposes only. Each application is reviewed individually by the CRA.

Ever feel like you’re repeating yourself all day… and it’s not sticking yet?
Try this:
Notice when your child is doing something you want to see more of, and respond right away with praise, attention, or something they enjoy.
Consistency helps build new skills over time.

Wondering how behaviour services can help a child learn to talk?
We focus on building communication in meaningful ways—starting with understanding why a child communicates and teaching skills that work for them, whether that’s words, signs, or other forms of communication ♥♥
