Casting Directors stress that having an impeccable Standard American Dialect is essential. How confident are you in yours? Now is the perfect time to perfect it.
This workshop will cover differences in resonance, use of pitch and manner of pronunciation as well as specific pronunciation changes. Each participant will have the opportunity to apply these principles to a text of their choice on the 2nd day.

THE INSTRUCTOR:
One of Canada's top Voice and Dialect Coaches, Trish has been teaching for 35 years both privately and at UBC, York University, Langara and in numerous private training facilities.
On-set coaching includes Alaska Daily, Legends of Tomorrow, Fringe and The 100. In her private coaching practice, Trish is currently concentrating on the Standard American Dialect so necessary for film and TV. Trish uses her extensive technical knowledge and performer instincts to help her clients discover the differences between the Standard American and their own individual speech pattern.
Also an accomplished Actor, recent projects include Firefly Lane, Legends of Tomorrow, Love Stories In Sunflower Valley, The Chronicle Mysteries, Wild Goat Surf and The Last Victim.
Trish holds a BFA from U of Windsor and an MFA from York U- both in Performance. She was originally trained as a Voice Teacher by David Smukler. Committed to continuing training, Trish has studied with numerous other teachers in a wide range of disciplines.

A big shout out and Congratulations to my former client Genevieve Joy for her major role (7 episodes) in Departure- 2nd Season, now airing. So damn thrilled- Genevieve had a pretty thick French Canadian accent when we met. She worked incredibly hard with me and developed a solid Standard American- but was not getting enough support from casting or her agent here in Vancouver- although she was finding interesting projects to audition for and doing great auditions- I know- I was her reader for a lot of them. She moved to TO, made some great connections, continued to work hard- and voila! Genevieve told me just did a 16 page audition (American) and her TO agent loved it! Take heart, those of you with a 1st language other than English and keep working hard- work, time and perseverance.😂
