When have you been at the most risk in your life, and how have you dealt with the crisis? At Earth Aware this week we had a lot of fun with table topics speeches, discussing the craziest moments in our lives, and sharing the from enduring these risks.

is ' way of preparing you for questions.

Questions about handling unexpected (our theme of this week's meeting); scenarios requiring staying calm under pressure; or dilemas dealing with awkward situations. These are the sort of things you might get thrown in our section of the meeting. Much like what an interviewer might throw at you.

This week, Michael, our Tabletopics Master for the night, came up with some tough scenarios...all picked from his real life experiences!

If you want to get used to speaking confidently in public, dealing with unexpected questions, and learning how to compose your thoughts on the fly, that's what we're great at - showing by doing. Plus, we'll give you tips on how to be improve.

Socials time
In the immortal words of , life moves pretty fast, and so does the summer! So we threw a picnic, brought the , and forgot all about chat, and instead spent some time just over a beer and a burger.

Our members love to stay in Earth Aware Toastmasters for years, and Michael F is the perfect example of this.

He's been with us through thick and thin, through changes in career, residence, health, and wealth. He's built a solid group of friends and added so much value to the club with his , speaking skills, and constant of advice in order to help others improve.

He delivers his acerbic critiques so honestly that you know he's not going to it. And that's exactly what some people need to improve. But don't be surprised if he throws in the odd rude word here and there!

So we want to recognise Michael F with a , Thank-you for all you do with our community.

Our at the end of every month is equally a session and a chance to get out early and with members and guests. It's wonderful to visit a local restaurant, bar, bistro, or cafe and just chat the evening away and .

Our theme this week at Earth Aware Toastmasters was "surprises", so we threw some hardball questions at our members and guests, and they had to deliver impromptu speeches for up to two minutes: "my high school reunion surprise", "my surprise talking pet", and "the surprise my partner couldn't process" all created endless oohs and aahs.

You should come and try it out! We love guests.
