Our SFX Makeup students are learning how to transform actors using makeup, prosthetics, and special effects techniques to create incredibly realistic injuries for film and television. Every detail is carefully designed to look as authentic as possible on camera. By combining prosthetic application, color theory, texture, and painting techniques, they’re creating injuries that tell a story while helping actors fully step into their characters. It’s incredible to see how these techniques can completely transform a performance and bring a scene to life! 🩸🎬✨

Regular Facials practice at NIC Spa!✨

Our esthetics students have been practicing Facials, one of the most important foundations of professional skincare. 💆‍♀️✨

A classic facial includes cleansing, exfoliation, massage, a customized mask, and hydration to help keep the skin healthy, refreshed, and glowing. It’s a great treatment for maintaining skin health, improving circulation, and giving yourself a well-deserved moment of relaxation.

Three grads, three productions, one shared training ground. 🎨✨

Maria Maria Renee Rosales and Saki Saki came up through the program together, and this year they’ve each been putting that training to work on very different sets.

Avery and Maria spent the month of October at Fright Nights at the PNE, airbrushing and body painting scare actors for a house full of mutant bug people and evil surgeons, night after night, under time pressure most sets don’t come close to.

Avery and Saki teamed up on character creation for SUMUR’s upcoming brand launch, building looks for both the teaser and the first official campaign video.

And Avery also brought her FX skills to Legends of Hope: Episode II, a Star Wars fan film that’s earned 25+ award nominations worldwide and even had a pop-up at Kids Pop-Con Asia in Singapore.

Different sets, different skills, same NIC foundation. We are very proud of their work, congrats Avery, Maria and Saki!

🎭 DOG SEES GOD at NIC Theatre! 🎭

What an incredible weekend! Our 1st Year Theatre students brought Dog Sees God to life after weeks of rehearsals, script analysis, set building, lighting, and bringing every scene together on stage.

A huge congratulations to our cast and crew for an amazing weekend of successful performances. We couldn’t be prouder! 👏✨

While Hydra Peeling with Hydrabrasion focuses on deep exfoliation, removing dead skin cells, and clearing pores, Hydra Peeling Hydra pH is all about restoring and balancing the skin after exfoliation.

NIC Film Acting Conservatory graduate Nawarash Ghimire is making his mark behind the camera, this time from Nepal.
Since leaving NIC, Nawarash has directed short films and a documentary, and worked as an assistant director on a Nepali feature film.
He has also co-founded Legacy Crown Studios with a producing partner. The studio was built on a simple belief: that powerful stories can inspire, challenge, and connect people across borders.

From training in Vancouver to directing and producing on the other side of the world, Nawarash’s path shows how far a strong foundation can travel.

🎬 On Camera Project – 1st Year!

What makes this project even more exciting? One of our first-year students wrote an original script, and the entire class came together to bring it to life!

From casting the actors to filming across different locations, our students have been experiencing what it’s really like to work on a film set. Every shoot has been filled with teamwork, creativity, and plenty of learning along the way.

NIC Film Makeup Masters grad Kiana Larson has a screen credit on Pinocchio Unstrung, coming in 2026, for her work with MastersFX! She also took the stage at Monsterpalooza 2026 for a panel, sharing her experience in this project.

MICRODERMABRASION!! ✨

Our esthetics students have been practicing Microdermabrasion, a treatment that gently exfoliates the outer layer of the skin to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. 💎

Unlike Hydrabrasion, which combines exfoliation with water-based hydration, Microdermabrasion uses a diamond tip or fine crystals to buff away dead skin cells, helping improve skin texture, soften the appearance of fine lines, and leave the skin feeling incredibly smooth.
Hands-on experience with treatments like these helps our students build the confidence and skills they’ll use throughout their careers.
