UBC Emerging Media Lab is accepting project proposals from UBC Faculty!
Bring your inspiration and collaborate with our EML staff and student teams to solve teaching and learning problems in all curriculum areas.
We encourage you to submit proposals related to your discipline, research, teaching, or learning. The applied emerging media technology to the projects may vary to Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Extended Reality (XR), machine learning, brain-computer interfaces, and beyond.
Submit your ideas until July 31, 2023.

We're so excited to announce that Emerging Media Lab and Assistant Professor Dr. Patrick Pennefather have been awarded the 2023 CUCCIO Collaboration Award! 🎉
A prestigious award that recognizes outstanding contributions made by Canadian universities and their IT departments in fostering collaboration and driving innovation.
For the past year, collaborated with a UBC Arts-based faculty in residence in the creation of a project-based learning (PjBL) course. The newly adapted MDIA 470 continues its focus on emerging technology development. The purpose of the co-development of the course is to train students on proof-of-concept projects by learning to prototype using Agile project management methodologies.
After the course completion, some of the projects are further developed into minimum viable products with a lead faculty for research funding or implementation of technology.
