On January 18, we welcome Prof. Mahdi Tourage (Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Social Justice and Peace Studies) for a talk on "Rumi’s Misogyny and Racism and the Limits of Mystical Knowledge." Mahdi Tourage will discuss what we should do with the ample evidence of misogyny, racism, and male-supremacy in the poetry of a globally celebrated mystic like Rumi. Ultimately, this session will invite participants to think and constructively discuss the ethics of mystical texts such as Rumi's for our present concerns. Join us virtually!
