☀️ Want to level up your English this summer?
Sometimes the difference between basic English and more natural, expressive English is simply choosing a more precise word.
Instead of always reaching for the first word that comes to mind, start building vocabulary you can actually use in real conversations (and on your CELPIP or IELTS test)
The goal isn’t to use complicated vocabulary.
It’s to choose the right word for the right situation.
And if you’ve been stuck at the same CELPIP or IELTS score and you’re not sure what’s holding you back, I can help.
✨ Book a complimentary consultation with me and we’ll look at where you are now, where you need to be, and what you can focus on to move forward.
Save this reel and try using one of these words this week! ☀️

You’ve probably been told to “lose your accent.” 🙄
As a former speaking examiner, I want you to hear this instead:
Keep your accent.
Your accent reflects your culture, your experiences, and your identity. It isn’t something you need to be ashamed of.
But if you’ve been stuck at the same IELTS or CELPIP speaking score, one reason might be your rhythm.
Every language has its own natural flow, and it’s completely normal to bring the rhythm of your first language into English. The good news? It’s a skill you can develop.
If you’ve been studying for months, taking the test over and over, and still not getting the score you need, it’s time to stop guessing and start identifying what’s actually holding you back.
🎯 Book a complimentary consultation with me, and together we’ll identify your biggest speaking challenges, create a personalized study plan, and get you on the path to your target score.
You’re stuck at a CLB 8 on your CELPIP or IELTS test 🧐 Why?
One reason could be the vocabulary you’re choosing.
Words like good, nice, and bad aren’t incorrect, but they don’t show the range of vocabulary needed for a higher score.
If you’re aiming for CLB 9+, focus on becoming more descriptive, not more academic.
📅 Book a complimentary consultation with our team. We’ll identify exactly what’s holding your score back and create a personalized study plan to help you reach your target score.

One of the fastest ways to boost your vocabulary isn’t by memorizing random advanced words.
It’s learning words by topic.
Start with the most common CELPIP themes:
🏡 Housing
💼 Work
🚗 Transportation
🏥 Health
🌱 Environment
✈️ Travel
💻 Technology
🎓 Education
For each topic, create a vocabulary bank with:
✔️ Synonyms (different ways of saying the same thing)
✔️ Useful adjectives (describing what you want to say)
✔️ Related verbs
✔️ Common collocations (Natural pairings of words)
✔️ Expressions
For example, instead of always saying “good,” you could say:
✨ beneficial
✨ practical
✨ efficient
✨ convenient
✨ worthwhile
The more related words you know, the easier it becomes to express your ideas naturally during the Speaking and Writing tests.
You’ll also be less likely to repeat the same vocabulary over and over. 😊

🇨🇦 Canadian music at its best 🇨🇦
The Sheepdogs The Sheepdogs absolutely killed it yesterday at the Salmon Arm Music Festival!
They played one banger after another 🎸 What an experience!!!
Check them out on Spotify and catch a show since they’re touring! You won’t regret it.
I had no idea a place like this existed in Canada. 🤯🇨🇦
Sparkling Hill Resort completely surprised me. From one of Canada’s largest spa experiences to a 16th-century Austrian farmhouse that was dismantled, shipped over in containers, and rebuilt here, every detail was so unique.
It reminded me that you don’t always have to leave the country to have an unforgettable experience.
Now I need your help! What are the most unique places you’ve visited in Canada? Drop your recommendations below because we’re already planning our next adventure. 👇✨
🎯Grammar Tip
Why is it?
✅ I am looking forward to tomorrow.
We use the present continuous (am/is/are + verb + -ing) because the feeling is happening now.
Yes, tomorrow is in the future, but your excitement starts today. That’s why we use the present continuous, not the future tense.
👇 Have a grammar question you’ve always wondered about? Leave it in the comments, and it might be featured in my next post!
