Hi I'm Belinda White,

I'm passionate about how children thrive through attachment, belonging, autonomy and contribution. I believe fundamentally that deep nature connection nurtures these in a way nothing else can! Hi, I'm Belinda White, owner and operator of Apple Star Learning

I'm missing my old crew! We learned so much from each other about belonging, consent, consideration, risk, self-confidence and a sense of place.

I hope you are all doing well this Fall in your new adventures in Kindergarten and Pre-school.

We loved this environment at the sea wall by for its combination of nature and constructed environments. Here, we were able to use our bodies as they were meant to be used, not prone, sitting, but engaged in . Here, we could pour over a thousand details of our environment, getting to know them intimately, in a full sensory, Embodied way. Here, each of us approached our edges, where do we begin, end? What is consent? How do we meet our needs for safety? Challenge? Care of self and others? Is it even possible to learn these things if our bodies, hearts, as well as minds, are not engaged?

The gratitude I have for the small handful of children who attended regularly is immeasurable.

I observed so much value in your and how diversity and inclusion add up to a deep sense of belonging and worthiness. and helped us bond!!!

I miss you guys

I Be Leaf in being ready 🌿

The great green unfolding is upon us. So grateful for the rains that dance with the sun to grow our food, our shade canopies, our medicine plants.

Two more months of and learning to orient to the book of nature, her cycles, her shapes and tracks, her stories and maps.

A sweet throwback!

I got to explore with this little one last week! Join us Tuesdays for Embodied~Play Nature Days?

See details below and DM me, Belinda at

She is getting more and more confident in puddles, up hills, wading through the uneven wee stream bed and all round figuring out how her body and the world works! Just this morning, she said YES to mittens for the first time - it must have been her bigger buddy's example.

Nurture resilience, joy and confidence in your self and your child!

Fall is here with wet rainy days, the sensory delights of mushy leaves, mud puddles, seeds and spiders.

Embodied~Play Nature Days are back! For 1.5-3 year-olds. 9:45-10:45 Tuesdays at Trout Lake, meeting just outside the ice-rink changing area by the green chairs. DM me at Apple Star Learning for more info.

We'll head outside for a short manageable play time exploring the sensations of Fall, and learning some basic tips to keep your children happy and dry, and building their own body awareness and nature connection.

Embodied play, big impact, exploring space and our own boundaries, trusting our bodies and our judgement. Support your child, aged 1.5-3 9:45-10:45 Tuesdays! Belinda will gently support you and your children in building resilience and joy during this wetter, colder, muckier season!

"My daughter and I joined the weekly Embodied Play group offered by Apple Star Learning for 2 summers and absolutely loved it! I learned so much about self, mentoring children of all ages & risky play. Belinda's obvious joy of teaching and of mentoring children is amazing. Her respect shown towards all children and families was also inspiring.

It was with Belinda's nurturing, and her experience and understanding of different learning styles & temperaments that helped my (sensitive) daughter to make the successful leap to kindergarten!"

Join us Tuesdays, 10-1pm, meeting at the rock circle by the toddler-climbing tree just across the stream from the new playground. Suggested donation $3-$8, but no one will be turned away.

I am passionate about supporting children in free-range play, getting to know their own boundaries and learning to be mindful of others'. I am an experienced attachment nanny, home learning mentor and outdoor educator. If you are looking for more opportunities to build nature connection in your and your child's life, as well as gently held social opportunities, this play group is a wonderful place to start. If you are curious about Forest School, but have a child who isn't ready yet, or didn't get a spot, or if you are home school curious, come join us.

For the last two years, I've run this casual drop-in play group out of Creek-side / Olympic Village, but this year I am really wanting to promote nature connection, and so we'll be meeting at Trout Lake through the Fall and into the Winter for those who are up for it.

For more information, please text me, 604 441 6913, email [email protected], or PM me here at Apple Star Learning.

I look forward to sharing some fun adventures with you and your children.

I'm grateful to the families who grant me the privilege to spend this slow time through the senses of their children. I'm grateful too for the embrace of the great outdoors...our beautiful green-filled city, for the plants, trees, seasons and creatures that spark curiosity, exploration and love.

I love my jobs, (all of them!!) Nanny, Educator, Photographer, Story-teller.
