A few weeks ago on Threads, I suggested to the Black and Biracial women who follow me, that I would like to start a creatives collective, and I'd like to call it Black, She Wrote!
And so I fu***ng did that, because more than sixty women joined me in a private chat on Threads, and we are still going.

While she's not the first, this artist is one of many that I am showcasing through our mutually run Substack this week. An Igbo woman from Nigeria, Belinda Chiazor is a screenwriter, daughter, and teacher who is showcasing her culture through all of her work.

Got “love yourself you crazy bitch” on my left thigh because I struggle with loving myself. I struggle because I was taught not to bother loving myself. I was taught I wasn’t worth loving. That was a lie.

This is absolutely true. They don’t know how special you are until they lose you. And by then it’s too late because you’ve moved on to people who see all of you and say “I want them to be mine”. My people have found me and while I know I am fully unworthy I’m working my way towards being exactly that.
