Summer Science is a one-week summer camp for Aboriginal students in grades 8-11. The program promotes interest in the health and human service field through first-hand experience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. Each year the program takes place in 2 one-week sessions: one for grades 10-12, and one for grades 8-9. Students stay on campus at UBC during their program week. In

Meet HARNOOR and ELLIOT!
Harnoor is so excited to join everyone at camp this year! She is going into her third of a Bachelor of Science at UBC, so if you're interested in pursuing science talk to Harnoor!
Elliot will be joining Summer Science this year as a Land & Food volunteer! He is going into his fourth year of an Integrated Science major at UBC. Elliot will be helping prepare your dinners, and if you see him around, make sure to say hi!

Introducing GURLEEN and ASHLEY!
Gurleen will be joining us a volunteer for the 3rd year! She just graduated from UBC with Bachelor of Kinesiology, so if you're interested in Kinesiology talk to Gurleen!
Ashley will also be a volunteer with Summer Science this year! She is Kaska Dena on her father's side with Norwegian and mixed settler ancestry on her mother's side, and is a proud member of the Liard First Nation. She is a master of science student in health sciences; her research focuses on climate emotions and she’s driven by a passion for environmental stewardship grounded in scientific and Indigenous knowledge systems. She is so excited to meet everyone at camp this year!

Introducing JENNA and JASMINE!!
Jenna will be one of the dorm coordinators and could be your team leader! Jenna is of Mi’kmaq heritage and is studying Biology at UBC.
Jasmine will be one of the recreation coordinators this year and could be your team leader! She is of mixed European and Nunatisiavut Inuit ancestry, and is studying Ecology and Environmental Science at UBC.

Today is the last day to apply for UBC Summer Science!
UBC Summer Science offers Indigenous youth a chance to explore health, science, and STEM in a way that is connected to culture and community. Through hands-on learning and time with Elders and Indigenous role models, students are supported in imagining new possibilities for themselves.
For students entering Grades 9–12 in September 2026:
Week 1 (Grades 11/12): August 2–8
Week 2 (Grades 9/10): August 9–15
