Studio 58, Langara College

We want to share an update with our community about Studio 58’s Production program.

This update is about future intakes to the Production program only. Studio 58 will continue, and the Acting program is not affected.

Langara has started the process to suspend future intakes to the Production program, beginning with the spring intake. The recommendation will go through Langara’s regular approval process, including the Board of Governors.

This is being considered because student demand for the production side of Studio 58 programming has remained very low.

We know the Production program means a great deal to our community. We are grateful to everyone who has been part of it and will continue to support our students with care.

Did you know Something Rotten! Director Dean Paul Gibson once graced our hallowed halls as a student? In 1995, he played Sam Blecher in Marvin Kaye’s They Have Mayonnaise in Montreal, directed by David Bloom. In 1994, he acted in John Millington Synge’s The Pl***oy of the Western World, directed by Kathleen Weiss. Iconic and inspiring, Dean now brings in a celebration of musical theatre with Something Rotten!
