The Arts Club’s Actor’s Intensive is a multi-week course for folks ages 25+ that takes a back-to-basics approach to tune up the professional actor’s instrument with voice, movement, and acting training.

Classes take place three days a week (15 hours per week), for 75 hours of instruction over five weeks. The acting training will incorporate voice and body work and examine the decision-making process that goes into crafting a performance. You will also integrate the process back into the product as you work on monologues, both classic and contemporary, to be presented at a final public showcase.

The Arts Club’s Actor’s Intensive, established in 2010, is a multi-week course that takes a back-to-basics approach to tune up the professional actor’s instrument with voice, movement, and acting training.

This summer we are offering a special edition of the Actor’s Intensive program that will focus on monologue work and classes will happen at the historic Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage in Vancouver, BC. This modified program for adults aged 25+ will provide weekly in-person group classes* with Covid safety measures in place for the protection of staff and students.

The acting training will incorporate voice and body work and examine the decision-making process that goes into crafting a performance. You will also integrate the process back into the product as you work on monologues, both classic and contemporary, to be presented at a final showcase.

QUICK PROGRAM FACTS

Ages: 25+
Experience: significant training and/or experience in acting and performing (preferably both)
Equity status: non-Equity actors are encouraged to apply
Diversity and inclusion: we encourage artists who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ2+, and/or PWD to apply
Class size: maximum 12 students
Class time: 28 over 9 classes
Final presentation: showcase to an audience
Financing: subsidized spots available on a case-by-case basis
