We were delighted to welcome the Honourable Jagrup Brar , British Columbia’s Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals, to the MineralsEd office yesterday.

At MineralsEd, our work is built on two things: sparking curiosity through hands-on Earth Science education, and opening students’ eyes to the career pathways within the sector. Every rock, mineral, and hands-on activity we bring into a BC classroom is also an introduction to the skilled trades and careers that power our province’s mining and critical minerals sector.

It meant a great deal to share that work directly with Minister Brar, and to talk about how Earth Science education today builds the workforce BC’s mining industry will need tomorrow.

Thank you, Minister Brar, for taking the time to see our work up close and for your support of Earth Science education across the province. Thank you also to Chad Pederson, MineralsEd Board Member, and to Michael Goehring, President and CEO of Mining Association of BC, for their continued partnership!

📚🪨 From one school year to the next! ⛏️

As we wrap up another summer, we’re looking back at some of the incredible moments we’ve shared with students, teachers, and industry partners across BC. From conferences, workshops, field trips, it has truly been a year full of learning and discovery.

Now, we’re getting ready for another busy year learning about the wonders of Geology! 🔎🪨

Thank you to everyone who made this past year possible. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

A day of learning from the experts! 🪨🌋

During her summer term with MineralsEd, our intern visited the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC), where she had the chance to connect with a volcanologist and learn more about Earth science and volcanoes.

She even got to hold Acasta Gneiss, one of the oldest known rocks on Earth, at 4 billion years old! 🌎🪨

We love seeing our summer student get hands on with geology and learn from the experts. ⛏️🔎
