You felt The Great Resignation, but how about the Great Boomerang?

Get ready because it's about to strike.

Many in charge of hiring have returned to a disrupted workplace due to the Great Resignation. Workers may also return to previous companies as firms go through their Rolodexes in the talent battle.

Per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for 2021:
- Resignations peaked in April and remained
unusually high over the next few months
- In July 2021, 4 million Americans left their
employment
- There were an astounding 10.9 million job
openings by the end of July

In Canada things are the same... but different. Employment has rebounded but does that really tell the full story of displacement?

The underlying questions around business closure, self-employment, school/daycare, early retirement, and more make this a complex question - in all countries.

With more skills, experience, and industry knowledge today, it's worth giving this some consideration when you're hiring candidates that might have been on your payroll at point or another during their career.
