I am currently in the Philippines working with a team of volunteers and we are trying to raise enough funds to pave the path to the only day care center in a marginal community in Mintal, Philippines.
Currently the path is muddy and floods throughout the rainy season (8 months of the year), which is keeping many kids from going to school and very hard for people to get to and from their homes.

Your name will be featured in the inaugural banner and you will become a key component in making the project possible!

As a UBC association that includes many international students as members this is important news: UBC has decided to increase International Tuition by 10% and Residence fees by 20%.
We encourage you to support the UBC ISA (UBC International Students Association) by messaging them your concerns or opinions.
Also, if of interest, the UBC Social Justice Centre will be discussing possible action around this issue at their weekly meeting today: 5 PM in SUB 245.

BREAKING: UBC to Increase International Tuition by 10% and Residence Fees by 20% A source with connections to the UBC Board of Governors has revealed to the Talon that tuition for international students will be raised by 10%, and residence fees on 8-month contracts will be similarly raised by approximately 20%. The university will be making the announcement over the next few days. This is the latest in a series of neoliberal reforms aimed at increasing profits for the University at the expense of financially struggling or prospective international students. [ 16 more words. ]
