Grounded in the theme of Our Collective Future, the presentation brought these broader trends back to practical, usable takeaways to help non-profits plan and adapt with more clarity and confidence.

🌄ICYMI: Learnings from Rural and Remote Non-Profits at the 2026 BCNPLC🌄
Rural and remote communities across the province are doing meaningful work, and there’s much the broader sector can learn from them.
This panel brought together non-profit leaders who live and work rurally, representing diverse regions and perspectives, to share what they’ve built, what they’ve learned, and how they navigate the real constraints and unique strengths of working in rural and remote contexts.
With Manda Aufochs Gillespie from Cortes Island Community Foundation, Sarah Sinclair from BC Rural Centre, Lisa Mueller from the Cariboo Chilcotin Country, and our very own JP Baker explored what makes this work distinct and how ideas can travel across contexts to strengthen the sector province-wide.

💫ICYMI: Key Takeaways from Day #1 Keynote at 2026 BCNPLC with Armine Yalnizyan💫
We were honoured to hear from Armine Yalnizyan, Atkinson Fellow on the Future of Workers and one of Canada’s most influential economic thinkers!
Here’s what we heard:
💡 Demand for non-profit services is only going up as economic pressures grow, so too will reliance on the non-profit sector.
🏥 The non-profit sector is part of the care economy, and it's a national economic powerhouse, representing 21.4% of all jobs in Canada and 34.5% of all jobs held by women in Canada.
⚠️ A care economy shortage is a hidden economic constraint. Without enough workers in across the non-profit sector, economic growth is at risk.
Thank you, Armine, for a powerful and timely conversation.👏🎖️
