Lifelong friendships start at VTT. đź’™
This beautiful snapshot from The Roots We Share major fundraiser captures our guest of honour, David Bogoch ('68), surrounded by VTT alumni from the Classes of 1967, 1968, and 1973.
The most remarkable part? These individuals have been childhood friends since their early days at VTT and remain close to this day. This image stands as a true testament to the deep, unbreakable bonds formed within our school community—connections that genuinely last a lifetime.

The Roots We Share was a celebration of volunteer archivist and Class of '68 alumnus David Bogoch. We must also recognize his son, Adam Bogoch ('05), who was responsible for creating so many of the evening's extraordinary elements, including the tribute video and retrospective slideshows, which involved months of work. This father-son duo has a deep love and respect for VTT, and we are the lucky beneficiaries of their devotion!

What an unforgettable evening at The Roots We Share!
Last week, our community came together for our major fundraiser to celebrate our history and pay tribute to a truly exceptional individual—our dedicated volunteer archivist and Class of ’68 alumnus, David Bogoch. It was an absolute honour to celebrate his decades of commitment to preserving VTT's story.
We were also thrilled to have a record-breaking turnout of more than 30 of our incredible faculty and staff members join in the fun! Our amazing team makes VTT such a warm, vibrant place for our students every single day.
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and made the evening a massive success.

We were thrilled that retired Head of School Cathy Lowenstein joined us at our major fundraiser, The Roots We Share. Thanks to our stellar past and present leadership, along with the tireless dedication of our faculty and staff, VTT continues to go from strength to strength. The retrospective slideshows displayed at the event, expertly arranged by Adam Bogoch, were a wonderful testament to how far our school has come over the years.

Step back in time to the very foundations of our community. As part of our ongoing celebration of The Roots We Share—and our immense gratitude to David Bogoch ('68) for safeguarding our history—we are proud to share our archival slideshow spanning 1918 to the 1950s. This segment highlights the builders and founders of our school, showcasing the paper trail and documentary evidence of the ancestors who first envisioned a Jewish school. Watch our history unfold from its origins as a cheder in Strathcona to the establishment of the building at our current location on Oak Street and 26th Avenue.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Johnny Zvi, BA, M.Ed., will be joining our leadership team as our new Vice Principal of Student Life from August 17, 2026.

Johnny brings over 20 years of rich experience in education, including serving as a VP in both Surrey and Delta school districts, and has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering inclusive, engaging, and supportive school communities.

In his new role, Johnny is eager to focus on:
Building vibrant school spirit
Creating meaningful opportunities for student engagement
Ensuring every student feels valued, connected, and heard

We are especially proud to share that Johnny is a VTT alumnus and the father of a current SK student, making this a true homecoming as he joins VTT in a professional capacity to serve our Jewish community.

Last week at our major fundraiser, The Roots We Share, we came together to honour Class of 1968 alumnus David Bogoch for his decades of voluntary work preserving the VTT archives. We are thrilled to begin sharing these memories with our wider community, starting with the beautiful student faces that greeted our event attendees!

Whether you are a VTT alumnus, a parent, a grandparent, or a student who attended VTT for just a portion of your schooling, take a close look at this collection. There is a strong likelihood you will spot a familiar smile or a loved one.

Credit to VTT alum Adam Bogoch for curating all the photos and arranging them into individual slideshows.
