The Vancouver Academy of Music is a non-profit institution founded in 1969 by the Community Arts Council of Vancouver. VAM is permanently housed in a modern facility at Vanier Park near the city centre with large classroom space, a library, teaching studios, the Koerner Recital Hall, rehearsal rooms for orchestra, choir, ballet, and over eighty parking stalls reserved for VAM students and patrons.

Our annual movie-themed popcorn orchestras are back this summer, where young musicians will have a chance to dive into two iconic franchises through the art of musical storytelling. Each camp is set to be an unforgettable week featuring some fan-favourites from the film scores!

🪇 Let your little one discover the joy of music at our Smart Start Summer Sampler! 🪇

VAM’s Smart Start program, in collaboration with the Royal Conservatory of Music (The Royal Conservatory ), is the perfect way to give your child a playful introduction to the world of music. Through VAM’s hands-on, play-based sampler classes, kids will have the chance to explore the fundamentals of music-making while sparking their curiosity and creativity!

🎭 Put your hands together for VAM’s brand new summer camp! 🎭

Join us this July for our Musical Theatre summer camps, featuring melodies from some of cinema’s favourite musicals. Led by camp co-directors and VAM teachers Frédérik Robert (Frederik Robert ) and Kimerica Parr, these camps will have tons of exciting activities, from rehearsing scenes from the movies to singing some of their iconic songs!

✨ With music from The Sound of Music to classics from the Disney suite, it’s going to be an amazing summer!

🎻 Come spend a mesmerizing afternoon with us at the Stradivari & Amati Players Spring Concert! 🎻

Join us as our talented string ensembles present works by Holst, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky. This concert promises a range of breathtaking pieces, featuring commissioned premiers composed by VAM faculty and students, and solos by four of our gifted young musicians.

❣️🎻Join VAM for a heartfelt concert raising money for children’s health care.🎻❣️

VAM’s String Department is partnering with BC Children’s Hospital Foundation ( ) for their annual Kids 4 Kids Fundraising Concert. This event will see VAM’s talented young string players come together to support a meaningful cause through music and help give back to our community.

Admissions are by donation, with 100% of proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital. 🏥

🎵 Join us for a day of musical celebration at VAM’s Orchestra Festival! 🎵

In the afternoon, VAM’s Friendly Philharmonic, Junior, and Intermediate symphonies will present works by composers such as Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, Beethoven and more. We’ll also spotlight the Grand Prize Winners of our 2025/26 Orchestral Concerto Competitions.

In the evening, VAM’s adult ensembles, the Vanier Park Symphony and the Adult Beginner Strings, will embody the joy of lifelong learning and perform works by Beethoven, and a variety of other composers, featuring conductor and pianist Ian Parker as soloist for Mozart’s Piano Concerto, K.491 (1st Mov).

👏 Put your hands together for our extraordinary VAM Symphony Orchestra! 👏

What a spectacular season finale! Our talented musicians put on a remarkable show at this weekend’s concert, and we couldn’t be prouder of all the hard work they put into this performance. Featuring phenomenal pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko ( ) and the ever-captivating narrator Christopher Gaze ( ), it was the perfect way to bring the season to a triumphant close.

🙏 Thank you to everyone in the audience who brought an electric energy to the theatre, and a massive round of applause for all the faculty, parents, and staff who worked tirelessly to make this concert possible!
