Ldp 10 is learning about the impact of gratitude practice and mental health in our CLE course. We planted a few seeds and up popped a garden of gratitude!

🎵🎤 Marshmallows roasting over open fire 🔥🎶 I am pleased to report that all of our Ldp 8s were able to make a perfect Bunsen burner flame today. No burns acquired. No eyebrows singed. Many treats were consumed! Happy Holidays, everyone!!!

From Mr. Al: Leadership Program, I just want to take a moment to say how incredibly proud I am of all of you.
Across our four cohort classes, you came together to lead the Mac & Cheese Food Drive and managed to collect nearly 1,000 boxes. That is an amazing accomplishment. All of this food will be donated to the Food Bank and the Salvation Army, where it will make a real difference for people in our community. At a time when the cost of food is rising beyond what many families can afford, your effort, care, and commitment truly matter. This is exactly the kind of leadership and community building that defines our mini-school.
Well done, everyone. You should be very proud of what you accomplished. 👏

It’s been a truly engaging week watching our Gr 11s take leadership of their learning. In EnvSc 11, our students have been learning how to prepare and teach lessons while also becoming experts in various ecological roles and relationships. Students worked together to become experts in their topic and then taught their peers both through direct presentation and though activity based reinforcement. They also may have learned that competition and candy are effective motivators! Hopefully when these folks are adults and have to train their staff about new objectives, programs, or policy changes, they’ll shine as leaders by sharing information in ways that are accessible and engaging. Here’s hoping for more fun in staff meetings of the future!

We are so very grateful to receive this cheque from and to meet the warm and wonderful staff from the local Cambie Street store. Leadership has been working on creative fundraising efforts to replace our aging laptops (which are older than some for our students). We are the proud recipients of a Teen Tech grant from Best Buy Canada! These funds will go a long way towards making our tech replacement goal happen and enabling our students to continue their incredible community work in social justice and sustainability. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Gaining a new perspective on vision! Our 8s “survived” their final lab of the year as they learned about the intersection of physics and biology during the eye dissection yesterday! They were collectively curious, courageous, a little grossed out, respectful of the sheep and supportive of each other! Their semester 2 teachers are in for a treat - this is SUCH a wonderful class to work with!!!

And that wraps up another year! May your days be merry and bright, just like our 8s making s’mores over Bunsen burners today. We hope your winter break is restful and that you spend time with your communities and loved ones! Happy Holidays, every one!!

Thanks to everyone for supporting our students efforts with the Shoebox Project! They packed up all of your donations today and they’re off to make some holiday magic and support women at risk in Vancouver.

Our Gr 11s explored UBC’s earlier this week as part of their work in English First Peoples 11 and Contemporary Indigenous Studies 12. Thanks to Mr. Beggs and Ms. Dixon for creating this valuable opportunity to learn in a community setting!!!
