Incredibly proud of being a part of such a forward-thinking institution!

We are pleased to present Langara’s first equity, diversity, and inclusion framework.

We developed this three-year framework based on input from our students, employees, and community members during our Inclusion and Belonging survey.

“Langara’s journey towards creating and fostering a more equitable, diverse, inclusive, and safe environment at the College is an ongoing long-term commitment,” said Dr. Joy Walcott-Francis, Director, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. “The four themes identified in this framework set the stage for key actions to be taken in the short, medium and long term.”

The EDI framework represents the voices of Langara’s diverse community.

Read the report now available at langara.ca/edi. Limited printed copies are also available through the Office of EDI.

Job Action at Coast Mountain Bus Company - The Buzzer blog 01/19/2024

As early as Monday, January 22 the Coast Mountain Bus Company transit workers and SeaBus operators are considering job action.

We recognize this escalation in job action will cause disruption for students and employees and we appreciate these concerns. Please consider the following:

Follow TransLink: Sign up for Transit Alerts (alerts.translink.ca) or check translink.ca for updates.

Consider carpooling: Ask and see if there is someone along the same route. We anticipate increased traffic in our parking lots, so be cautious when driving or walking to avoid accidents.

Passenger zone: There is a passenger zone on West 49th Avenue directly in front of the College.

Use a car-share program such as Evo. These programs allow for parking in residential permit-only areas which is a bonus.

In the event of job action, the College will remain open as usual with regularly scheduled classes and services. Please check in with your instructors regarding potential disruptions to your commute.

Dark, cold weather is what makes wintertime cozy – but it can also present hazards.

Stay safe around campus with our winter travel tips:
• Wear appropriate winter clothing, including shoes with good grip
• Go slowly, use shorter steps, and don’t take shortcuts over uncleared or barricaded areas
• Walk undistracted: don’t text/email while you walk
• Avoid carrying large or heavy objects that affect your balance or obstruct your vision
• Be aware that you are less visible to motorists after the sun sets; wear bright clothing and use lights to be seen

Download the Langara Safe app from your app store to have safety resources with you at all times. You can also request a SafeWalk in the Langara Safe App or by calling 604.562.1011, and a security officer will meet you and walk with you to another building, a bus stop, or a vehicle.
